I just did some digging around, and it seems like there are very few women's or co-ed teams in the vintage baseball reenacting department out there. In that case, I think we should create our own so we get some more representation out there. Girls definitely did play in the 1860s and 1870s rather openly - just look at Vassar for proof.

Today was baseball day at camp! I spent the better part of the morning teaching kids between the ages of six and eleven how to play by the rules I play by (i.e. 1860s rules) and then actually playing with them. We finished playing roughly an hour ago (mostly because we ran out of players), so here's a little footage I was able to get from my position behind the plate. Those prospective students are still milling about outside quite noisily, but they're easier to deal with when you're in a Papelbon jersey and not a long-sleeved dress and a corset. I am slowly surviving these days without baseball...with baseball.
